Add the marks for each subject to get your overall percentage, or work out how many marks you need in the papers still to come. Plain, honest arithmetic, with no board-specific rules.
Enter the marks for each subject and the maximum marks. Empty rows are skipped.
| Subject | Marks | Percentage | |
|---|---|---|---|
| English | 78 / 100 | 78% | |
| Hindi | 85 / 100 | 85% | |
| Maths | 92 / 100 | 92% | |
| Science | 88 / 100 | 88% | |
| Social Science | 81 / 100 | 81% |
Enter what you have scored so far, the maximum marks still to come and the overall percentage you are aiming for.
What it works out
A percentage is your marks as a share of a hundred: the total marks you scored, divided by the total maximum marks, times 100. It puts papers of different sizes on one scale.
The second calculator works backwards. From what you have scored so far and the marks still to come, it finds the score you need to reach the percentage you are aiming for, so you can plan revision around a real number.
Formula and worked example
The calculator uses exactly these formulas. Write them in your notebook and check one answer by hand: it is the surest way to remember them.
Five subjects of 100 marks each
Answer84.8%; and 90 out of 100 needed for 80%
In projects and exams
Marks to percentage across subjects, and the marks you need in the exams still to come. Here is where it earns its place in a school year.
Add up the marks and confirm the percentage, subject by subject.
Know exactly what you need in each remaining paper and put your revision time where it counts.
Forms ask for a percentage. Check whether the form wants all subjects or a best-of set, then include only those.
Enter each unit test to see which subject needs the most work before the term ends.
Check your work
These are the slips that cost marks in exams and burn out parts on the bench.
A 50-mark paper and a 100-mark paper do not count equally. Add the marks, then divide by the total maximum.
Boards and colleges decide which subjects count. Follow the official notice for your result.
Round only the final percentage, and only as your board does.
Each board and university publishes its own conversion, if any. Use theirs.
Questions
Stuck on a project or a sum? Ask the institute on WhatsApp.
Ask on WhatsAppOnly when every subject has the same maximum marks. Otherwise the overall percentage (total ÷ total maximum) is the correct one; the calculator shows both when they differ.
Use the conversion your own board or university publishes. It differs between them, so this calculator does not guess one.
Yes. Add them to the subject's marks and its maximum, or enter them as separate rows, whichever matches how your result is made.
No. Everything is worked out in your browser (or on the page you get back if JavaScript is off) and nothing is stored.
