This site carries a lot of free learning material. A member centre can use it to prepare lessons, give students something to practise with and fill the gaps between classes. This article shows where each resource is and how to fit it into a week of teaching.
Study books and study material
Your franchise portal has a Study books section with books your students read in the student portal, and a Study material section with lessons and practice questions by course. Read a lesson before the class, teach it, then print a handout or the practice test without answers for a class test and keep the answer key for yourself. See using the franchise portal for the steps.
Practice tests and the typing test
Students sign in to the student portal to take timed practice tests and a typing test. Ask them to take a test after each unit. Check your centre results page to see which subject has weak averages, then plan a revision class for it. Use the typing test as a regular, friendly challenge.
Free ebooks
The free ebooks library has PDF books for the courses and for science projects. Share a book with a student who is ahead or one who has missed a class. Tell students that the books are free so that nobody pays for something that is offered at no cost.
Learning paths
The learning paths show how courses fit together into a sequence, from a first step to the next. Use them when a student asks what to learn after finishing a course. They help you plan a student for the long run rather than for one course.
Project guides and project ideas
The project guides are detailed, step by step projects with diagrams, and the project ideas list suggests many more. Use them for a weekend project class, for students who like to build, and for school tie-ups. Let each student choose an idea that fits their level and finish it properly.
Kids lessons
The kids library has free lessons for younger learners. If you run a young learners batch, use them for short activities. Keep sessions playful, short and supervised, and check the material suits the age group before you use it.
Career guides and calculators
The career guidance pages help students see where a skill can lead. The free tools include calculators that can be used in lessons, such as a typing speed test and percentage and GST calculators. They are handy for practical examples in class.
A weekly teaching rhythm
- Start the week with a short revision question from last week.
- Teach a new unit using the study material, with a live demonstration.
- Give a practice task in the lab and walk around helping.
- Assign a practice test or a free ebook chapter for home.
- End the week by checking the results page and planning what to repeat.
Ideas for a short exercise each day
- Five minute typing practice at the start of every class, using the typing test as the scoreboard.
- A one question quiz from the practice tests, answered on paper before the lesson begins.
- A pair task where one student explains a step to the other, which tests whether they really understand it.
- A Friday show and tell where each student shows one thing they made that week.
Be honest about what the resources are
These resources are general learning material. They do not replace your own teaching, they do not promise any result, and they do not state anything about the institute fees or about what any employer will accept. Use them to teach well, and add your own examples from your town and your students.
This guide is general advice for planning. It states no membership fee and promises no income, student numbers or acceptance of a certificate by any employer. Ask the head office for the current fee and terms in writing, and check local rules and tax with a professional. Use the planner to test your own numbers.
