Are you ready to open a centre?

This checklist states no membership fee and promises no income. Ask the head office for the fee and terms in writing.

I can give the centre most of my working day for the first year, or I have a trusted person who can.
I can manage for several months without taking an income from the centre.
I have talked about it with my family and they support me.
I have spoken to at least ten parents or students near the place I have in mind.
I have visited two existing centres as a customer and noted what they do well.
I have used the planner with cautious numbers and I know my break-even number of students.

I have a valid government photo ID, such as an Aadhaar card.
I have my 10+2 marksheet.
I will have at least 2 computers, with internet.
I have an internet-enabled mobile phone with WhatsApp.
I am not a government servant.
I will ask the head office for the membership fee and what the kit includes, in writing, before I pay anything.

I have compared at least three places on rent, size, footfall, power, internet and safety.
The building allows a training activity and a signboard.
I have checked which local registrations apply and asked an accountant or the local authority.
A licensed electrician has seen the wiring and will provide earthing, breakers and enough sockets.
I have read the rent agreement with someone experienced.
There is a fire exit and a place for an extinguisher.

I know the software my first courses need and the machines that run it.
I will get a bill and a written warranty for every machine, new or second hand.
I have planned a UPS, surge protected boards and a wired network with a backup internet option.
I have planned a projector or display, a whiteboard, a printer and a spare parts kit.
I will use only legal software.

I know who will teach each course and I have seen them teach.
I have checked identity and references for every staff member.
I have a course outline, a timetable and batch sizes of one student per computer.
I have read the study material I plan to teach from.

I have a separate bank account for the centre.
I have my own fee card, written down, with what is included and what is extra.
I have receipt books or billing software, a student register and a cash book.
I have spoken to an accountant about GST and tax.
I have a reserve for repairs and slow months.

I have a Google Business profile and a WhatsApp Business account ready.
I have planned a first demo class and invited people to it.
I have posters and a course list, with no promises of jobs or unconfirmed approvals.
I have a plan to meet at least two nearby schools.

I have written rules for behaviour, child safety and photos.
I will ask parents before using any student photo or name online.
I know how to reset a student password and I will not keep a list of passwords.
I have a first aid box and the numbers of the nearest doctor and emergency services.
